This is called Sigil, the City of Doors because of the Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting, Planescape. Sigil was a city found in the Outlands, where one could eventually find a portal or doorway to nearly any other location in the multiverse. I really enjoyed the scope and range of this setting, given my penchant for travelling in real life, and the opportunities to meet the variations of the old hands that DnD has had standard for so many years.
